Root [Rom] X10 Eminence [For xRecovery]

Yeah I did that. I mean that my APN seems to be going to sleep as well. Wifi disabled, APN enabled, phone active I'm getting my notifications for email, but if the phone is asleep they're not coming.
Not sure about then, the only thing I can think off is it's probably turned off to save battery, so may just have to live with it.

Hi X10iUser, absolutely love this ROM, very impressive work.

Realise you've moved on so to speak, but wondered is it possible (for me) to remove Launcher Pro and Titanium Backup -- don't like LP and TB. I could of course just ignore them, but I have been trying to move icons around the 5 screens (upped your default 3) and keep getting a very irritating BUY Now type dialogue when I fluff the move. It was merely distracting at first, but now it's really, REALLY! annoying -- and may result in me removing (your very superior) ROM (a bit of flattery always helps I've been told! :D)

TIA

I also want to remove YouTube and a few others, don't use Social Networking of any sort...

Sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear, if it's possible to remove apps from your ROM, how would I go about doing that? Any info, pointers, etc would help -- I've started trawling the net for answers too, but I figured as it's your ROM, you'd be the best person to ask.

Just looking and the SE Home app (original) seems to be missing, is that the case?

Thanks for the quick response. :)

In the usual manner, good old Titanium Backup, an essential tool for root users imo.

Correct, if you want any of the apps that I've listed as being removed in the OP you can find them HERE.

Thanks again, will have a go at this again, a little later, especially as my first attempt 'broke' the startup.

I removed LP and then the x10 wouldn't boot, getting to the boot animation and staying there (left it for more than an hour) so I'm assuming I have to restore the original Home app then remove LP (thinking out loud here).

Thanks for the link to the original apps.

If I sound somewhat new to all this, I am rather, having only had an Android phone/x10 for 3 weeks and a rooted phone for 2 days.

Any launcher will do, doesn't need to be the home one, but you do need at least one other on there before removing the first, as you've found out.

Hi X10iUser -- well the saga continues, but in a good way... installed the original SE Home app from your list and it broke the dark theme (of course it did!), so a quick jump onto the market and a reinstalled LP fixed the problem, BUT, only after I cleared the Dalvik cache, I guess I tried/retried 6 or 8 times to reinstall LP, it failed each time with an 'Application not installed' message. Quite by chance and much rummaging around the net, I came across an obscure and unrelated post that mentioned the Dalvik cache, until then I had no idea it existed.

Anyway, Titanium Backup (thank you kindly) has a clear cache option which removed the offending fragments and LP then installed.

I pass this on, in case another noob follows my rocky trail...

And now a further question if I may, I have dl'd your X10RM theme because I prefer the font etc, can I custom install this over the new and shiny Eminence or might this break things once more? I have made a backup using xRecovery, but I'm loathe to jump in again without a little prior knowledge.

My X10 is looking very smart and running without issue, up to this point.

First time I've been excited about a phone since my original XDA back in 2001/2. :)

A few days in and I love the ROM. Everything looks so polished and in a better colour scheme than the stock. Thanks again X10iuser! Maildroid is working out fine for the notifcations and I score low 700's in quadrant's test which compared to low 500's before is night and day. No more lagging at all(not that it was bad before but now it's better :) ). As much as I liked ADW for the theme Launcherpro is better. Having the phone and text icons in my dock, and having an indicator on them when i have messages or calls waiting is too cool :)

And the best part was the ease of install with xrecovery. Even as an IT guy installing the themes was a bit intimidating because there were so many steps that could be screwed up. This was simple. Copy over some files, run a program, point to the files and voila! Nice work.

You can yes, should just go straight over the top.
Thanks again X10iuser!
Glad you like it. :)

I dont know if this topic has been touched but i have a WARNING for all you Eminence users. Its gonna be a log story but last night it ruined my life so im gonna say it anyway lol

OK so last night i woke up found out my cat got into my Leopard Geckos cage and got stuck i nearly killed the cat but my lizard is fine probably a little scared but she was in her hut.Anyway i couldnt get back to sleep at midnight this really pissed me of i only got like 2 hours of sleep. So i went on my phone well thats when i discovered i couldn't get to my homes screen it was gone ill i could do is quick launch recent apps or go back through all of the apps and stuff i had opened before hand.Long list short i figured out it was because i had downloaded LauncherPro as its the default launcher X10iUser used and i couldnt find it in my apps anyway i did it to see if their was any setting as i was getting tired of having the home screen rotate cause it screws up all my widgets anyway didnt find one as it wouldnt open the app so i figured well no point in having 2 installed so i deleted it from the market WELL all the sudden no home screen and then i turned my phone of and it wouldnt even boot.So i ended up reinstalling the ROM and problem solved except for the part were i lost everything including my APN so i spent an hour last night trying to piece it back together and its gonna take all day today :(.Also i know see it in my market so the first one must have been a glitch or something?

OK SO DO NOT DELETE LAUNCHER PRO EVEN IF YOU DOWNLOADED IT AFTER SEEING IT WASNT IN THE MARKET.

Still loving Rom but now that its the weekend and I don't have my phone plugged into a charging source at all during the day I'm finding my battery life today sucks. barely done anything with it today, took off charger at 8 and now at 6 its only at 60% Anyone else have this? Not doing anything different with eminence than before.

Hi Smoked -- that's a no.

Mine hasn't been charged for about 20 hours and it's only down to 74% (from 100%) Made a few phone calls, updated weather app, few texts (8 or so) and 30 minutes of SatNav using GPS (CoPilot). No Bluetooth use at all and about 2 hours on Wifi whilst moving files between my x10 and PC.

Fairly light use I know, I don't allow a lot of the location based data updates and enable GPS/WiFi only when I need it.

My ROM is standard (Eminence 1.2), has a relatively small number of apps and fewer still running in memory.

Not sure if any of this helps -- have had my x10 only a month, but battery drain appears to be better with Eminence than the stock 2.1, however I've not run any benchmarks/tests to verify this.

OK, firstly Hi, and thanks to everyone who's tips and help i've been reading using so far to improve my X10's performance and appearance.

Secondly, i seem to have hit a brick wall in my goal of installing Eminence onto my phone.
I have extracted the 4 files into the xRecovery/backup/eminence directory, but when i try to install the rom from the boot menu, all i get is no files found.
can anyone help?

I have rooted,
installed busybox, JIT v2, and backed up my phone using xrecovery.
what am i missing? (probably something obvious)

You don't extract the Eminence file onto the directory, you put Eminence.zip into the backup directory.

Incorrect. You extract the file that's inside the zip file, and transfer it to the backup folder, then remove the space

Then in xRecovery you go to the backup/restore menu, and choose restore, then you choose the eminence file

Now i'm really confused, there are 4 files in the .zip,

cache.img
data.img
system.img
nandroid.MD5

none of them have a space in the names, or is it the space in the folder name i remove?
You don't extract the zip, just copy it to the sd card, but rename it first.
Installing:

You need to install xRecovery, then extract the folder named "Eminence v1.2" to /sdcard/xrecovery/backup, then reboot into xRecovery and use the Restore option to install the ROM to your phone.
