Metro PCS has 3G now!!!

I was able to use a program called QPST v2.7 which is like CDMA Workshop but free to do this. I'm not great at making guides but I'll just tell you what I did.

Here is the QPST I use and the PRL. I'd love to give credit to whoever originally obtained the PRL but to be honest I don't even remember where I got it. It is safe tho and works, that I can assure.

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

1. Installed QPST.

2. From the start menu I found the QPST folder and started QPST Configuration

3. Had my Ascend connected and opened Device Manager and expanded the Ports icon. I took note of the COM number listed beside the DBAdapter Reserved Interface, which in my case was (COM15)

4. In QPST Configuration I clicked Add New Port at the bottom right and selected the COM15 and enabled it.

5. After that I went back to the start menu,QPST and opened Service Programming. A box popped up asking for a phone and since I only had the one I just clicked OK and a new box with alot of tabs opened.

6. If you go to the Roam tab at the bottom there is a Preferred Roaming area with an area asking for a file. Browse for the PRL and when finished click the Write to Phone button at the bottom of the window. It will ask for your SPC. After that it writes to the phone and the phone reboots on its own. You should let it reboot fully and not unplug it from the computer or mess with QPST while it's doing so.

When the phone is done booting you can close the program and unhook the phone. It took about 10 minutes for data to start working but 3G works fine on it when I'm in a 3G area. My Ascend is using the bloatware free stock 2.2 ROM found on here and I've had no problems for the week with it. Hopefully this can be helpful for someone and sorry if it's not made out too well, pretty bad at explaining things :p

Follow this. Its the one I followed.

Oh and here. To find out your SPC.

Uhhhh wheres Nutmegg? Ahaha Im not sure how to do it with QSPT but heres how with CMDA Workshop. Nutmegg knows how to do it with QSPT tho...I think

If anyone with the 3022 PRL wants to pass it along to others heres how.

I will post this guide which works for most android phones..let me know if it works for Ascend..you will need a program called CDMA WORKSHOP 2.7, I can't post the link here. You will also need to have the ascend usb drivers.

Download and install usb drivers for Ascend from here: ascend_usb_drivers.zip

On Phone Dial this code
*#*#2846579#*#*
A menu will pop up
Then
Go to projectmenu -- Background Settings -- USB Port -- (select) Manufacture mode
Then
Go To settings -- About Phone -- Status -- MEID (write down your MEID)

GO to whiterabbit's android site and enter your MEID and click on CALCULATE and this will give you your metro SPC code, write it down. android - whiterabbit.org

(You can skip all of ^^^^^^ that if you download the MEID Converter off the Market. Its free"

Make sure on Phone USB Debugging is on
Now On Windows go to device manager -- ports -- DBAdapter Reserved Interface
(Remember your COM PORT)

Now open CDMA Workshop and choose the port you took note of earlier...click connect. Open the security tab and enter the SPC in the box and click SPC then send.
Now go to Other tab and under the PRL section click on READ (Universal, NAM1), this will let you save the PRL to a .prl file on your PC. Save it and upload it here .

Let me know if this works for you if not PM me with your error codes.

3024?? cool. Can't wait for the upload. I'm running out of things to do with my Ascend so trying a new prl will make my day. LOL

BTW how's battery life for the rest of you with the 3g? Mine is crappier than ever so I am forced to turn off data when I'm not using it. Otherwise my battery is dead in around an hour, seriously... But I'd rather have to keep my charger within arms reach all day than go back to 1x...
