I think it's great to see so many people posting still using the original Incredible. I still think this is one of the best phones. I have the original first incredibles with the amoled screen and to me it's on par with the iphone retina display. It's one of the things I love most about my screen so crisp and clear. I'm not a fan of 4.3 and higher screens. Now with gingerbread, it's running so much faster for me. I'm in love all over again w/ my phone.

My 87MB update notification popped up last night (never got the first update in Sep), but I wanted to wait until I saw some feedback, so I kept pressing "Update Later" when the pop-up reminded me. Now I'm ready to do it, but I can't find the update. The Gingerbread update pop-up reminder has stopped showing up, and I've looked in Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates and it says I'm up to date (but my software still says 2.2). I did the *#*#checkin#*#* thing and got the notification that the chick succeeded but nothing happened.

Any ideas how to get the update back?

I did the same thing :(

I'm getting annoyed. As the day goes on, things work more & more different every time I go to use something that I use on a day to day basis. My texting is outta whack, the application drawer is jumpy, & a few other things. I'm beginning to assume gingerbread has something to do with this as everything worked a-ok yesterday before the install. I'm regretting this until the next "bug fix" update arrives.

Yeah, reading that again I really didn't help much did I?

Angry Birds Backup free from the market...

Sorry about being a bit off topic. You can delete this after you look into it. :D
Thanks:)
Read the stickied threads in the "All things root" subforum. They cover S-Off and re-rooting the 4.06 update if you accept it after successfully turning S-Off.
You have a specific link? i went through there and it was a bit of information overload
the app drawer should be auto closing... any one else reporting this issue? I'd try rebooting the phone and see what happens.

thats how it works on my rezound running 2.3.4 fwiw

OK so I wanted to be Incredible Specific lol.

What's your opinions on upgrading to 2.3.4 Gingerbread? Do it or Don't?

My phone is annoying the heck out of me to upgrade say's its downloaded and verified.

I think it works fine the way it is but reading all this crap I don't know if I should keep ignoring it or let er fly. I made an app backup with astro.

Sorry if it's been asked before but seems they have released it several times and I wondered if the bugs are worked out with updating it. I'm super new too! I've only had this thing two weeks, bought it on eBay.

Sure. Here's the guide for really easy rooting and getting S-Off using unrevoked (must still be on 2.2): http://androidforums.com/incredible...ked-3-rooting-stock-incredible-evo-2-2-a.html

Once you've completed that process to gain root, you can accept the OTA update to 2.3 and re-enable root following this guide:

http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/420788-how-regain-root-s-off.html

Note sure if the upcoming 4.08 patch will break root again, but I would doubt it since it's just a small patch and not a major kernel update like the 4.06 is.

I just read on another forum that vzw is reporting that the update was pulled to address the screen size and incorrect market store issue. I'm so confused. Anyone else have any intel?

The update was pulled quite a while back. I think the general consensus is that same update (4.06.605.3) is rolling out now to everyone, and then there will be another smaller update shortly (4.08.605.2) that fixes those issues.

Thanks. That I knew. I was under the impression that the post was referring to the new update as having been pulled. But honestly, who knows at this point!

Like others above, I've been dismissing the 'update' for most of the day as I was using the phone. Now, I have time for the upgrade at home on the charger. So I press "update now" and nothing. No reboot, no download, no upgrade. The system says I'm now upto date at 2.2. No more nags to upgrade. Don't they test these things?

Exact same thing happened to me. Maybe it got pulled again?
