An update in regards to Bob Cat, long time AF Moderator

Think I'm gonna check out some of his posts later seeing as he's an AF legend and I love AF.
@Unforgiven you don't have a link to the troll thread do you?
I've reasoned with some trolls on g+ (when I'm in the mood) and I think it would be an inspirational read.
Don't go searching, just if you have it handy mate I'd appreciate it :thumbsupdroid:

Wouldnt mind having a read also. as he said, if you can find it fairly easy

Edit: the more I think about it, I really like that idea. I think I will search out some of his posts also. Sounds like a great way to remember and honor him :)

The conversation I mentioned was in a privileged area (Private Chat with Mods) on another forum. As much as I'd like to share the whole conversation with the world to highlight BC's contributions, I can't. I've shared as much as I felt comfortable to convey his passion and compassion while respecting the member in question and the moderator standards that Mike and I both upheld.;)

Besides, he is probably stomping his feet and spitting bullets on high for me sharing what I have already. He didn't like being exposed as the caring softie he was.:D

Doubt anyone here will ever find out if I die tbh.
Don't know why I mentioned that, it just popped into my head..
I'm glad people obviously knew Bobcat outside of these forums to find out and share the news.
I had to find out via Facebook 2weeks ago that my best friend of 10yrs had been found dead and I'm glad of Facebook or I don't know how his family could have shared the tragic news with everyone.
Take care everyone.
I'm an atheist but I fully respect everyone's views of an afterlife (kinda wish I was a believer myself)
Sorry about the jibberish, just writing my thoughts xxxx
Love you all xxx

I didn't get to know him on as personal of a level as many of you but I got to share a conversation or two with Mike via hangouts. What a great spirited man he was, even through his pain and struggles. My heart goes out to his family in this sad time. RIP Mike, I hope you get to ride that hog you wanted in the afterlife!

I haven't been in here for a long minute. It's unfortunate that it's because of this. Sometimes it's hard to tell if a person is being genuine on the Internet but Bobcat (Mike) left no doubt of his passion to provide true helpfulness and advice to anyone who he met. I'm glad he found this place and helped shape this community to the positive place it is today.

Hats off to him and all the admins, mods, guides, contributors and members.

Mike will be missed but we all know that there is always a special place for him in AF.

I've been trying to get Mike on Hangouts for a few months. We used to message back and forth a lot. I feared for the worst when he stopped responding this spring.

He'll be my construction compadre forever. Now I have a friend upstairs to watch my back when I'm working on the road. I sorely miss my friend, but that's a bit selfish. He was in a bad place, we can be thankful he's not in pain anymore. He'll live on in all of us and everyone he touched throughout his life. One of the toughest, bravest men I've ever known.

Be at peace my friend.

I know what you mean about being "selfish" to grieve and miss someone. It is selfish if you think about it. They're gone and we're crying.
It's human nature though and does us good to grieve so no one should really feel selfish we're only human :thumbsupdroid:
Respect mate ;)

(Below is a reply to an email I sent to a few people who knew Bobcat. They gave me permission to post anonymously on behalf of them, to add to the condolences in case Mike's family one day sees this.)

Thank you Phases,

I am choosing not to reply to the thread because I handle grief in an uncommon way and due to being disconnected from AF for so long. This news does make me sad. Please pass my condolences to to his family and alert me if there is anything I can do. I appreciate you reaching out.

Thanks for the note! Anonymous is absolutely okay, completely understand.
