Help How can I tell if my Samsung Nexus S is 'rooted' or not?

Hello:

I have a Samsung Google phone, model: KHSAMNEXUSS.

How can I tell if it is 'rooted'?

If it is not, is there any reason why I should not 'root' it?

I ask this because I may be interested in installing 'DroidWall' and maybe some other apps that require a 'rooted' phone.

If it matters, I am in Canada using a Koodo smartphone plan.

Well, if you didn't root it, then it's not rooted. If you want to be sure, turn off your phone, then boot into the bootloader. If it says s-off, then you are rooted, if it says s-on, then you are not.

If it is not, is there any reason why I should not 'root' it?

There are many reasons to not root. You could brick the phone, you cannot take OTA software updates, you lose your warranty, etc.

..excuse me for saying ,but to brick your phone you have to be a complete ****** ,and this is not the case ,as for the warranty ...it's region dependent.

but why not talk about the benefits of root ?
