How do I stop the ringer from turning off every night

Sounds like you have a "quiet hours" setting in operation, either built in to the system or through some app. So the first thing is to find what is doing this - if you have an app called "Assist" or "Moto Assist" that would be the first thing to check. Once you have found the source, see whether it has the option to turn off notifications but keep the ringer on (or allow certain callers through, if it's just some people you want to be able to call you).

If it hasn't got the options you need, turn it off completely. You can then use an automation app from the Play Store to turn the notification volume off on a timer but leave the ringer on. If it's just this you want to do then a simple app scheduling app like Timeriffic could do this for you. Otherwise a more sophisticated automation app like Llama or Tasker would allow you to automate more tasks.
