Root root?

How do you root 2.2 froyo for samsung galaxy s, i tried the same way i did my 2.1 but it never worked.

Ended up with an un-bootable phone, with a android dude with an exclamation mark showing, had to restore factory in recovery mode to get it back.

Im running froyo.XWJP6, official firmware.

There are some posts about this already, but gonna help you anyway:

Rooting 2.2 isn't as easy as it is for 2.1, but since you have recovery/download mode working, it should be simple enough (really takes about 30 sec if you know what you are doing).

Follow the steps in this thread on XDA by Chainfire and enjoy your freshly rooted Froyo.

Hi, i used a one click root solution for the pc, it worked a treat.

However, i cant get rom manager to work, i get verification errors when it reboots to recovery to attempt a backup.

sounds like your missing busybox. you can download it from the market, but i would un-root and use the CF root mentioned above because it has busy box built in and there is a fix for rom manager in there too
