Nice one, was it just a case of having another go or did you have to do something different.

Next step root & S-OFF, or have you done that already

Leedroid first I think, I like certain elements/apps (contact integration/the native camera app etc) of Sense so I'll give that a go for a couple of weeks, then switch to CM& :)

I just tried it again and it worked. I was bricking it though, especially when it was applying the zip file in HBoot.

I've not done anything at the moment, it's currently installing every single market app I've had before, even if I'd uninstalled before downgrading. I'm gonna let it do it's thing, have some tea, then set it up as it was before. If I take a backup of this ROM in clockwork, I want it to be as close to as I had it before downgrading so that if I need to revert, I'm not messing about too much.

That's the hard part done though.

Hi EP - glad you managed to make progress :). We're treading the same path at the mo, as I'm planning to flash Leedroid as well. Sems daft to be apprehensive after having come so far, but I'm very reluctant to do the ENG S-OFF, which Leedroid apparently requires. Have you done both radio and ENG S-OFF?

I've just rooted and I'm watching the video about getting Radio S-OFF. Is it mandatory to get Eng S-OFF for leedroid, or just recommended?

In the future, if you want to avoid redownloading everything, skip putting your gmail account in, then go to Settings >> Privacy, tick the top box, untick the second box and then untick the first one again. Then you can add your gmail account and restore your apps via titanium backup which is far quicker.

As far as I'm aware, ENG S Off is only need for this step:
Can't hurt to ask in the XDA thread though.

Both El P and Maxy - there's no need to worry about getting ENG S-Off... there's a one click tool the same as the Radio S-Off tool... I'll have a look for the links in a min, but think that they're probably in this thread!

The only thing to worry about with ENG S-Off is that you CAN brick your phone when flashing radios... this only apparently happens if you loose power whilst flashing the radio!

Getting both radio & ENG S-Off was just a one click process. I'm not sure if one has to be done before the other but I did radio 1st. The only issue I had was an exception error, so I re-downloaded the one click tools again. Then instead of dragging the exe file out & putting on the desktop I just double clicked it from the open zip folder.

Thanks Xyro. Wondered whether it was to do with the recommended radio, which I have no intention of flashing just yet (will revisit later if I run into any problems). So, for now, I'm not going to bother with the ENG S-OFF.

Even when I was a noob, I didn't feel as big a noob as I do now.

Thanks D.U.R.X. and Pothers. Just had a read of the 1-click Eng S-OFF thread on XDA. I'm getting the impression that the ENG S-OFF might be more difficult (using the tool at least) from a custom ROM, so I might just man up and do it.

    No worries mate! :)

When I downgraded I got Radio S-Off and then, after the discussion I posted above, I ended up going for it on ENG S-Off... might as well have the droid as it's supposed to be - full control is in your hands!!

Like I said, from all that I've read, the only time it can cause you any problems (brick the phone) is if you loose power whilst flashing a radio... having read all about rooting, etc. before doing any of it, nobody would attempt anything unless they had a fully charged phone anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem!!!

Hang fire, I'm having a PM conversation with the guy who wrote the downgrade thread at the moment, I'll see what he says about it.

That pretty much summarises what I've read in 3 or 4 different places! :D

EDIT - think it's probably worth getting, in case you do decide that you want to flash a radio at a future point!
