Widgets removed from screen on reboot

    Hi.

I'm not super experienced with phones or technology. So I hope my question makes sense.

Whenever I turn off and turn on my phone, all the widgets are removed from the screen, and I have to manually add them back on. I'm just talking about simple widgets like the Music Widget and the News & Weather widget, so they're not some third-party widget that I have stored on an SD card. They're just simple widgets pre-installed on the phone.

I don't know why they disappear after a reboot. Could someone help me so that I don't have to manually put them back every time?

    Thanks.

You might want to try another Launcher and see if they still disappear on restart of your phone.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, PurpleProf.

Are you sure you've got your app/widget icons etc placed on your default home screen? Try scrolling by swiping left or right on the screen a few times each way after a reboot.. if they appear on one of the adjacent screens, you need to use the screen indicators (dots at the top or bottom of most launchers) to get to the middle one, usually that's the default home screen, then place your items there.

Is it the stock launcher? TouchWiz? etc.. ?

The stock launcher called Launcher version 2.3.6

Have you checked the screens by scrolling, as suggested?

Also, will you tell us which Android device with which you're having the issue? ;)

I am on the center screen. Widgets on every one of the side screens don't appear. None of the icons have disappeared; only the widgets. All the icons are where I put them. The phone I'm using is called the Huawei Prism.

    Thanks for helping me.

Are the apps stored on memory card or the phone memory? If the apps with widgets are on the card, they'll either not work or disappear every time you boot.

They are stored on phone memory.

The only time ive heard of phones losing icons/widgets/setting is after a big update like ICS to JB and it takes a factory reset to cure it

The phone only has 512mb internal memory. The apps may have indeed been getting saved to SD card instead of internal memory.

Never do a factory reset from the privacy menu on a rooted phone, you will have a brick!

I did the Privacy Factory Reset thing, the widgets still don't remain on reboots.

These are all widgets on the phone.

Sprint Galaxy S4 user here. I think the same thing happened to me today. My weather widget disappeared from the home screen and when I try to put it back, it says the widget is already added to the screen. I added another larger widget (travel) successfully, removed it and tried weather again. Still says it's already added.

It worked earlier this AM and all I've done is install Helium premium, updated Yahoo mail and Watchon. Also ran Play Music for the first time with headphones and also did the adapt sound setup, at which time the widget disappeared. And just for giggles, pulled the battery.

    WTF?

    Followup to my previous post:

I also tried creating a new empty home screen and it still says widget already added. I was able to add weather widgets from Weatherbug and a local TV station's app, but was not able to add one from Elecont eWeather - just came up blank.

I did try clearing cache and data from the stock widget and forcing a stop, to no avail.

    Followup to followup:

Just got back from the Sprint store and what she wound up doing was uninstalling Tasker and Elecont eWeather. Then the stock weather widget was able to be added. Both apps had been on my phone for several weeks, but who knows? I reinstalled Tasker, but will skip eWeather for now. So far, so good. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I sort of had this problem when I moved the widgets to sd card. if they're on sd try moving them to phone. just a thought :)
