Root [ROM] ApeX V1.4.1 for Droid X & Droid 2 - Refinement and Ease of Use (2/22/2011)

Ok. For anyone following my ranting, today. Here's the end of it.
LPP has been giving me problems on and off for awhile, now. I know it is supposed to get a major face-lift soon, as it's basic build is out of date, being based on 2.0 or 2.1.

Fine. 1.4.0 seemed to have pushed it to the limit. The long and short of it is that I didn't my LPP backup from TiBu after having started afresh.

I am stable now. Well, at least my rom is. Me? I'm majorly peeved having wasted my day on this.

Bottom line: I can no longer recommend LPP with the latest roms to newbies. They're gonna have troubles. Oldbies may want to fiddle with it, not me. Too aggravating. LPP is off my radar.

So, I'm good now. I'm using GoLauncher and my 13 screens (so far) and am fine.

Carry on.

I have had no issues with LPP from the market or using the Blue Themed one from Gregtard 0.8.3. I always install fresh though and do not use TiBu. It sets up very quick and I have my activation key memorized (that part is pretty sad).

That sucks you're having issues with it but mine has always run very solid on all Roms. Themed or unthemed.

Thanks. Here's the deal. I was using Launcher X Pro scrolling widgets within LPP. The situation got too buggy.

Meanwhile, back OT. :)

Have two questions

1) Has anyone been able to get music player functions on the lockscreen using pandora, datpiff, audiogalaxy, stitcher, ect... I've tried all 3 options in toolbox with no luck. (That connected music player seems like it could have potential hope it will eventually be able to do what subsonic can do)

2) Does anyone have a screen shot of the keyboards? I went to install the other ones (not default) as the default gingerbread keyboard seemed smaller than i was used to. Comming from Apex 1.31 and liberty 1.5. Anyhow i did option 2 in the toolbox and now when i try to change to option 3 or back to option 1 it does not work. The phone installs and reboots but its the same when i open the keyboard.

Thanks in advance

Just tried the music controls on lockscreen with PowerAMP and it is working fine (did not change anything using toolbox).

Wait, you're saying that when you use PowerAmp, the music controls built into the ROM show up on the screen or that the PowerAmp Lock Screen shows up? I want to use the music controls with PlayerPro, but of course, they don't work either and I have to use the lock screen. I wish the lock screen used the same coding as Liberty's where ANYTHING playing music has controls on the regular lock screen.

WidgetLocker is GREAT, but the fact is that it doesn't use music control. I have to either have a widget on there ALL THE TIME or have an icon, and I don't want either of those. I much prefer a standard minimal lock screen without anything until I actually need the music widget on there. The developer said he was working on that, but the last I heard from his was a couple of months ago to be honest.

Also, for anyone who wants window animations, download Anim Mod. It should work on here. I haven't tried yet obviously.

ALSO, ALSO! Stevie, I have a question for you. Are you restoring everything with Titanium Backup? If so, that could be a major problem for you. I've learned that I have to start completely fresh because it usually grabs data from your back up that causes errors. Whenever I back up and restore on a new ROM, it's buggy and I get force closes a lot, but when I just start completely fresh from the market, everything is perfect.

I'm going to be honest, my battery life sucks on Apex 1.4.0...And I was one of the people that didn't have bad battery on Liberty 1.5...Hmm...

When I moved to Apex 1.4 I did what a few people recommended and charged fully then went into clockwork recovery at erased the battery stats. I've been running a couple days now since then and I must say my battery is lasting a lot longer than it used to, typically 8 - 10 hours more than I was in the past on both Apex 1.3.1 and Liberty.

I am going to start doing this monthly and see how it goes.

I've been using GoLauncher with the Classic theme, and I fell in love with it. Seriously, this launcher is just perfect. All it needs is to be optimized with some screen transitions and maybe some specialty widgets.

Also, if you don't like Stevie, I'll call you sir Steven. :(

EDIT: OH AWESOME! http://golauncher.goforandroid.com/2011/02/15/version-2-10-announcement-in-advance/
