Let me know how that Boxwave protector works out for you. I was looking at the anti-glare one (as opposed to the Crystal) as well, because it mentions being more fingerprint-resistant.
I'm using the VZW protectors right now, but will likely switch to the Boxwave, especially if you come back with a good review.
My ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector arrived from Boxwave yesterday, and shipping took extra long because of the stupid DHL to USPS handover (was shipped by DHL on 12/10, reached the local area on 12/12 and was given to USPS, and took until yesterday to finally be delivered).
Installation was simple and straightforward. There was a tip in the forum to work in a misty area with dust less likely to be floating around, so I took a hot shower and worked in the bathroom afterward. I used slightly soapy water on the screen protector to let me slide it around on the Eris for final positioning and gently pressed out any air bubbles. After drying for an hour, I could see a few small spots on the edges not adhering to the screen. One was on the side of the screen, the others were at the top surrounding the proximity sensor. The Boxwave website FAQ explains that it takes some time for the rigid screen protector to fully conform to the shape of the screen. One day later, I was able to press out the side spot, but the others at the top remained.
Right away after turning on the Eris, I could see that the screen protector gave a sparkly uniform rainbow effect over any non-black color. Text and borders look fairly hazy and the picture just does not shine through like with the bare screen, everything looks somewhat cloudy. I believe this is all due to the anti-glare properties of the protector, but it's giving me eye strain and completely kills the picture quality, looking like something you'd expect from an LCD from 8 years ago. As far as the anti-glare feature goes, all this screen does is trade off a direct reflection of light with a more diffuse reflection that's still just as hard to see through.
Testing out the feel, my finger can slide across the screen smoothly and easily, even smoother than with the bare screen. Response to touch commands and typing feels fine with no noticeable effects. The home buttons are still laggy, but mine have always been laggy even without a protector on. Fingerprints wipe off the screen easily, but I think the cloudy screen protector helps to blend some of these in.
Overall, I think this ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector feels quite durable and was easy to apply, but I don't think I can live with the significantly degraded picture quality. I'm going to bite the bullet, consider my first $13 spent a loss, and spend another $13 to get the Crystal version, which I've read is not noticeable at all when installed.
