I figured it probably was, and this also has no link for an actual source, it's just conjecture by some one that gets repeated by all the tech sites.... /sigh
You're best off looking here mate for those type of questions, try the "one click root" thread in thereok guys im going to root my phone as i want to test this froyo out, one question can i unroot if i want? and change between firmwares such as original and unofficial roms?
lastly, can someone post a link to a good working htc desire foryo 2.2 sense rom please. thankyou. Azz
I'm using this one and am very happy with it. It's supposed to be very close to the official build and is based on the leaked HK test ROM. It does include a few non-official items such as root access and legacy A2SD+ (which many find superior to the official Google Apps2SD).
There's a number of others on XDA as well which all have their pro's and cons - it's really a matter of what you want included. Also MoDaCo has a ROM kitchen where you can pick what options/features you want installed and cook your own ROM. Need to be a paid member to use it though.
Wasn't Desire supposed to be the first?Verizon all but confirms Droid Incredible's getting Froyo soon | Android Central
I know it's not about desire but it's mentioned there. Anyway, first official HTC 2.2 OTA, so it's slowly starting.
Show us that letter please.Just wrote to HTC and got the answer that it will get the update in Q3 Which is August and September :] I hope they will release it in August :]

Too be honest I don't know why anybody is waiting around for HTC or they're carrier to pull their finger out and release Froyo.
With UnrEVOked Rooting a Desire is simple and there are many fine, and pretty bug free Froyo ROMs to try, whether you want Sense or not they are there, and you don't have to be that technically minded to get it done following the guides on this forum and XDA-Developers.
I was waiting, but it felt like we were going to wait forever, the same as I waited for 2 years for an official WinMo 6.5 for my XDA, it never came, but Custom ROMs were there to try from early on.
So my 2pence worth is Flash your own ROm you wont regret it, and if anything you'll learn more about your phone than you will waiting around for HTC, but if that 2.2 does officially arrive you can still apply it then.
I would like to see if the texting has changed at all. I like the Iphones texting more because of the mms button built in. Some times me and my buddies just send pictures back and forth having a very funny convo over mms. Its not as fun to do on my evo
i am now using it as since i rooted people .
I stuck 2.2 on last night as well.
I was already rooted, with a custom rom, so it took me all of about 10 minutes using ROM manager.
I'm pretty impressed so far. As paulswift36 said, it looks pretty much identical to the previous official HTC 2.1 but it is quicker. There's also a few little extras in, the new LED flashlight app is pretty cool, and full Flash is awesome.
It seems extremely stable so far with no noticeable downside, other than a couple of incompatibilities with some stuff I was using in 2.1, but I'm sure they'll be updated at some point.
A big thumbs up so far.
Is the camera any better??

Not so far as I can tell. It does have HD (720P) video recording though.
No idea. Sorry, I don't use it at all.
