the stock settings are a higher value which means the systems lets more things happen in the background before it starts to cleanup after itself
by lowering these values it forces the android system to keep More Ram available at all times so you will notice windows opening faster and a smoother swappiness with your screen and overall reactiveness will be greater
this is a safe common tweak most developers use for custom roms, there's no scripts re-writing any functions of the rom its just a simple value change..
i've unplugged my phone about 40 minutes ago and been playing around here and there and my battery is still at 100% lol so it stops unneeded background proccesses as well at a safe rate

no the speed kernel only has minfree tweaks minfree is the android stock internal task killer, they are a set of numbers that represent how much ram is allowed for a specific use ie: background apps, or hidden apps..i used the speed kernal can you explain what this does. is it like an overclocking but without changeing the cpu if that makes sense
